Layer Groups are the new way to manage layers within Workspaces and Workspace Templates. These have replaced Base Maps entirely. All previously created Base Maps have been converted into Layer Groups that contain their respective composite Layers.
Layer Management (Workspace)
Workspace Layers and Layer Groups are managed each Workspace Map's Legend configuration.
To manage layers and layer groups in a workspace:
- Navigate to a workspace
- Open the workspace map
- Expand the layers panel from the toolbar
- Click on the edit pencil
Note: Layer Groups added to the workspace from the workspace template cannot be modified but can be removed from the workspace.
Layer Management (Workspace Template)
Workspace Template Layers and Layer Groups are managed in the Workspace Template Map Setup configuration.
To manage layers and layer groups for a workspace template:
- Navigate to Settings
- Select Workspace Templates from the navigation menu
- Select a workspace template
- Navigate to the Map Setup section of the workspace template
Background Map Defaults
Background map defaults (e.g. street, satellite, hybrid) can be set at Workspace Legend or Map Setup section
- Start managing map layers
- Scroll to the Default Background Map section to see the current default
- Select a background map via the background map selector
- Save your changes
Permissions
Permissions do not apply to layer groups. They are simply a logical grouping of layers.
- Permissions are managed on individual layers at the team level
- A user may be able to see a layer group but may not see all of the layers inside the group depending on what Layers they have been given access to
Filtering
Layers inside of layer groups will not be affected by workspace filters such as date/time range and AOI
- To filter a layer by workspace filters, add the layer individually to the workspace or workspace template
